Massage Therapy

Experienced Massage Therapists are available to provide a wide variety of massages, each can be individualized to assure you receive the maximum benefit and achieve your goals. Whether you're seeking treatment for a chronic condition, muscle strain or damage, or relief from the unique pain of arthritis, fibromyalgia or the everyday stressors of life in the 21st century, our massage therapists will help you select the massage therapy that will provide you the maximum benefit. Massage services include, but are not limited to:

Classic/Swedish Massage

The most common and popular type of massage therapy, Swedish massage utilizes five styles of long gliding strokes to relieve muscle tension and improve circulation relaxing the body, mind and spirit. Swedish massage is most beneficial for stress relief, relaxation, releasing cramped or tense muscles, improving circulation and relieving joint pain and stiffness.

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep Tissue massage uses slow, deliberate techniques to penetrate the deeper layers of the muscles and connective tissues to increase flexibility, release chronic muscle tension and promote healing of chronic paid due to injury. Deep Tissue massage is most beneficial to athletes, individuals undergoing physical therapy after an injury has healed to aid in the breakdown of scar tissue, and individuals with very dense muscle tissue. Deep Tissue massage can be used in combination with other types of massage to address painful, stiff "trouble spots."

Hot Stone Massage

The heat from water-warmed, smooth basalt stones literally melt away the accumulation of day-to-day stresses and tension promoting deeper muscle relaxation, pain and stress relief and increased blood flow. Hot Stone massage is both relaxing and invigorating and can be incorporated with other therapy methods in a session.

Prenatal Massage

A prenatal massage utilizes various massage modalities and techniques to relieve the unique muscle tensions and skeletal stresses of pregnancy, improve lymphatic and blood circulation relieving cramps, headaches and edema (swelling). Specially designed tables and/or pillow placement are used to ensure the expectant mother's comfort during the therapy session. The American Pregnancy Association has an excellent article on the benefits of prenatal massage that can be found here.

Reflexology utilizes stimulation of specific pressure points in the feet, hands or ears, corresponding to specific body organs and systems to enhance internal health and restore balance to the whole body. Reflexology can be incorporated into other modalities of massage to address specific injuries and/or illnesses.

Sports Massage

A combination of massage modalities and techniques designed to relieve the stresses of a particular sport by concentrating on the muscle groups and joints most subjected to repetitive and aggressive use. Studies have shown that specially designed sports massages can promote flexibility, reduce fatigue, improve endurance, prevent injuries and enhance performance. Athletes and trainers utilize sports massages as part of a comprehensive training regimen to enhance performance and reduce risk of injury, for pre-event preparation and for post-event recovery.

Thai Yoga Massage

One of the most invigorating types of massage, Thai massage utilizes your entire body as the therapist applies therapeutic pressure and manipulates you into a series of yoga-like stretches to loosen your joints.

Trigger Point Therapy

Like Deep Tissue Massage, Trigger Point Therapy targets specific "problem areas," utilizing pressure of trigger points (localized areas in which the muscle and connective tissue are highly sensitive when compressed) to relieve tension and pain in an entire (perhaps not even nearby) area. The technique can relieve pain and promote healing of damaged tissues, and restore motion to joints. Trigger Point Therapy can be used in combination with other massage techniques to treat chronic and/or acute muscle tension, headaches, tennis elbow and carpal tunnel syndrome among other conditions.
